Alliance Trophies

Alliance Trophies that are played for throughout the season
and presented at the AGM
​

There are three stroke play competitions throughout the season, from which, the best scores are taken into account to win the Gazette Cup, the Neilson Trophy and the McLaren Trophy. 

These are the rules.

​

  • Gazette Cup: All Divisions (net)

    • Winner is the person who plays the two out of three best net cards

    • If there is a tie, the trophy will be shared by the recipients

    • Gazette Cup runner up Trophy
       

  • Neilson Trophy: Silver Division

    • As Gazette Cup – but gross
       

  • McLaren Trophy: Bronze Division

    • Two best gross scores over SS. If a Bronze player reduces into Silver Division and already has one score recorded, then she may continue to play for the McLaren Trophy.  In the event of a tie the trophy will be shared.

 

There are three trophies which are presented to the club as the winner, paying no prize money, and played in conjunction with the competition of the day.

  • Benson Trophy:

 

Team competition 4BBB Stableford teams of four – TWO PAIRS from the same club; to be declared before going out to play.
Tie – last 9, 6, 3, first 9, 6, 3 (aggregate). 
There are also prizes for the 4BBB winners of the day.
 

  • LEWTAS Handicap Shield (Alliance Trophy) and (Alliance runner up)

Team competition – 4BBB Stableford.
Teams of four TWO PAIRS from the same club to be declared before play.  If the best pair score tie, last 9. 6, 3, first 9, 6, 3 (aggregate then last 18 etc).

Other trophies to be won by individuals for which prize money will be paid:

  • Ann Thorpe Salver: 

 

Best gross on Charity Day.  Tie – over last 9 etc.

​

  • Charity Cup: 

Best nett.   Annual competition in aid of Cancer Research.  Tie – over last 9 etc.
 

  • Eaglescliffe Trophy: 

To be played on President’s Day. Best net score.  Tie, etc.
 

  • Minnie Lowther Salver: 

To be played on President’s Day. Best Gross. Tie, etc

​

  • Alliance Salvers: 

Greensomes – two players from the same club.  Best net. Tie, etc.
 

  • Millennium Trophy: 

Best net score. Tie over last 9, etc.
 

  • Two Mixed Trophies: 

Annual Mixed Foursomes – Best net and best gross (gross takes precedence)
